Roles are an object type from the organizational chart menu. In the Roles catalog, however, these Role objects can be managed independently of the organizational chart.

This is because the Role object can be assigned to organizational units in the organizational chart, but does not have to be.

As in other catalogs, new roles can be created here, or existing roles can be edited or deleted. The assignment to an object in the organizational chart is an optional attribute when editing the properties of a role. As shown in the screenshot, a role can be assigned to none, one or several organizational units due to its reusability, so that it can appear in several positions in the organizational chart menu.

This outsourcing allows you to use roles for managing skills in the Qualification Management module without necessarily having to show the roles in the organizational chart.
