For general information on managing authorization profiles, see the Introduction to authorization profiles article.

In the Catalogs tab, you assign general access rights for catalogs.

The read and edit permissions set here initially grant users general access to catalog entries.

In the Catalog configuration, the read and edit permissions for each individual catalog can be restricted to specific authorization profiles.
If this is not used, the read or edit access set in this tab applies universally to all catalogs (except for the special catalogs Roles and Document type).

Read access to catalog entries

If this option is enabled , the users are allowed to see catalogs and their entries in the corresponding menu.

If desired, read and edit rights for each individual catalog can be controlled specifically during catalog configuration; see article Configuring catalogs.

If the option is disabled, the Catalogs menu is hidden for these users.

This privilege is required so that users can access entries from catalog fields when filling out workflow forms, e.g., to select an article from the article catalog when creating a complaint case (since version 25.3).

Write access to catalog entries

If this option is enabled , the users are allowed to see catalogs in the corresponding menu item and to create, edit and delete entries in them.

This permission can be executed only by users with an Editor license or Designer license.

Configuration

If this option is enabled , the <Configure Catalog> button will be displayed to the users when viewing a catalog. This allows to view and modify the configuration of this catalog.

This permission can be executed only by users with a Designer license.
