Once you are in the Processes menu, there are several options to create a new process group or process.

Creation in the Process Explorer - "Create New"

In the navigation area, first select the process group to which you want to add another process group or a process.

Click Create and select whether you want to create the Process Group or Process object.

To add a new top-level object, right-click the Process Explorer folder and follow the steps in this article.

Then assign a name for the new object and confirm your entry.

SmartProcess allows you to reuse several modeling objects. This includes process groups and processes.
Using templates for processes or process groups

You can use a previously saved template for new objects, where e.g. the color scheme is taken into account and for processes additionally the number of swimlanes. The template itself can be designed in the process designer and saved under "More actions".

Clicking on the magnifying glass will take you to a larger preview.

Here you can

  • delete the template
  • set it as default template
  • change the name of the template

Creation in the Process Explorer - "right click"

Select the process group to which you want to add another process group or a process with a right-click. For further procedure, see option (1).

With options (1) and (2) the created object is only inserted into the tree structure of the Process Explorer.
Only when proceeding according to option (3) the object appears in the Process Explorer and as an object in the process model after its creation.

Creation in the process designer

The modeling of process groups and processes takes place in the process designer. It is called up by selecting a process model in the Process Explorer and then opening it in edit mode via the link .

You will find the symbol area on the left-hand side of the screen. Choose either the Process Group or Process object and use drag & drop to place it in the design area of the process model.

Then proceed as described in option (1) and save the process model.

Tip: If you have followed option (1) or (2), you can also add the created object to the process model afterwards.
To do this, edit the process model as described in option (3) and select the tab in the symbol area. There you will find the structure of the Process Explorer, from which you can now insert the desired object into the model via drag & drop.
Modify the object icons

The direction of the arrowhead from the symbol for processes / process groups can be changed via the context menu (1).
Right-click on the symbol -> Object -> Direction -> Select the desired direction of the arrow head.

This way you can also change the used shape (2):
